    • The "Spinning Bolt" Issue: If a bolt turns but never tightens or backs out, the factory threaded insert (nutsert) inside the frame rail has broken its spot welds and is spinning. You will need to carefully cut the bolt head off using an angle grinder to remove the skid plate
    • Always Use Anti-Seize: Coat your replacement bolts with a high-quality anti-seize lubricant before installation. Because these bolts face constant road grime and moisture, un-coated steel will quickly seize back into the frame.
    • Torque Spec: Tighten the transfer case skid plate bolts down to 55 foot-pounds. If you have applied anti-seize lubricant, reduce your final torque target by roughly 20% to avoid over-stretching the hardware
